SAMPLE REVIEW # 1:
$200.00 The editor will read the first
5,000 words (about 20 *pages) of the manuscript. Product: The editor will write a one-page evaluation
discussing the hook, set up, characterization, issues of craft and literary
tendencies made evident in the material.
Along with the analysis we offer a list of resources (a bibliography of
books on the subjects at hand) and/or perhaps some essays (or PowerPoint
lectures) on various topics such as voice, audience, point of
view, characterization and craft issues in order to assist the writer in a successful
revision of the manuscript. SAMPLE REVIEW # 2:
$350.00 The editor will read 10,000
words of your manuscript. Two
5,000-word samples will be submitted and reviewed: the first 5,000 words
(about 20 *pages) and the middle 5,000 words (another *20
pages). These latter pages are copied from the center of your manuscript
and should be representative of your writing therein. Product:
We'll then create a two-page evaluation on the same attributes listed in Sample
Review #1 and will also analyze how the writing (craft, characterization,
style, tone, etc.), is sustained at the middle of the manuscript, a place
notorious for sagging. Submission
Guidelines: Please create two separate documents of 5,000 words each and
label them “Beginning” and “Middle,” accordingly.
SAMPLE REVIEW #3:
$750.00 The editor will read the first
25,000 words (about 100 *pages) of the manuscript.
Product: We'll create a three-page
evaluation discussing the attributes listed above as well as a focused analysis
of the structural aspects of the work. We'll also include material on
further structural needs of fiction or nonfiction as well as the type of
resource list mentioned in Review #2 above.
Submission
Guidelines: Please include a Table of Contents (for nonfiction) or brief
(50-word) chapter summaries (for fiction) of the unsampled work in order to
reveal the plot or story line.
*Please note: The SAMPLE
REVIEW SUBMISSIONS are based on word count, not page count. The page counts listed are based on a standard
manuscript format of one-inch margins all the way around, double-spaced,
12-point Times New Roman font that equates to approximately 250 words per page.
(The page counts suggested are only to give a relative understanding of the
amount of text that will be considered during the review.) The client may
choose to submit only the word count necessary for the review or send the
entire manuscript and have the editorial team pull the sample to review. |
